Art is essential, especially for young children who are just starting to hone-in on their creativity skills. Art Road was founded to ensure that every child in the southeastern Michigan area gets their chance to enjoy art and build up important life skills. The Art Road Mission

Art Road was founded with the purpose of creating artistic opportunities for children all over the area of southeastern Michigan. Many schools don’t offer the art curriculum needed to help kids build the creative and artistic skills they need for the rest of their life.

Art Road provides special arts activity classes, including supplies and an instructor, at no cost to elementary schools that lack art programs. The classes introduce children to the works of artists, provide historical perspective, and bring the entire experience into focus with hands-on creative arts projects such as painting, drawing, sculpture, or mixed media. The benefits that all children experience as a result of their Art Road classes include: 

• Increased interest in school
• Improved test scores
• Better problem solving skills
• A creative outlet to pressure
• A sense of pride and accomplishment in their work

How You Can Get Involved

It’s easy to get involved with Art Road and make a difference in a child’s life. First and foremost, you can donate to the cause, and these donations will go towards the art supplies the children use, the teachers that instruct the kids, and more.

If you’d rather get your own hands covered with paint and marker in the process, you can take advantage of one of their many volunteer opportunities. Become an ongoing classroom volunteer where you’ll become an integral part of the long-term learning process for the kids. Or, jump into one of their special events, which happen throughout the year.

One more exciting way that you can get involved with this program is by becoming an ARTNER, or an organization partner. As an ARTNER, you’ll make a monthly donation and in return, you’ll receive photos of the art projects made by the kids you’re supporting.
