Design: 2020 Chevy Equinox vs 2020 Buick Encore

Chevy Equinox DesignsBoth the 2020 Chevy Equinox and the 2020 Buick Encore fall into the compact SUV class. However, the Equinox maximizes the capabilities of this body style while the Encore provides smaller interior dimensions.

The Equinox seats five with around 40 inches of legroom for all. You’ll get 40 inches of legroom in the front two seats of the Encore–but at the expense of the rear seat passengers, who will only get 35.75 inches of legroom.

Additionally, the Chevy Equinox gives you up to 63.9 total cubic feet of cargo space to work with. With the Encore, you’ll have to leave some camping equipment behind or downsize your luggage since this model can only handle up to 48.4 total cubic feet’s worth of cargo.

Only One Engine Offers Power, Performance & Capability

The 2020 Chevy Equinox is ready for any adventure with two capable engine options, a 1.5L turbo engine and a 2.0L turbo engine. The former engine option offers an efficient EPA-estimated 31 highway MPG while the latter focuses on power and capability.

With the 2.0L turbo engine under the hood, you’ll get 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Pair this power with available towing equipment, and you’ll be able to tow up to 3,500 pounds of trailer weight with the Equinox.

As for the 2020 Buick Encore, you’ll get just one engine option: A 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces just 138 horsepower. Like the Equinox, this model offers an all-wheel drive system. However, even when equipped with that, you won’t be able to tow anything with this model.

Technology Features You Don’t Want to Miss Out On

Chevy Equinox Safety Technology The 2020 Chevy Equinox has you covered on all sides with a slew of standard active safety features keeping tabs on your surroundings, including:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Forward Collision Alert
  • Front Pedestrian Braking
  • IntelliBeam® Headlamps
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning

You can also opt for a handful of available features to round out your safety arsenal. Available Rear Cross Traffic Alert helps you back out of the driveway with confidence while the High-Definition Surround Vision camera system maximizes visibility with a bird’s-eye view.

Unfortunately, the Buick Encore doesn’t prioritize safety like the Equinox does. With this model, you’ll miss out on most of the features listed above with the exception of Forward Collision Alert, which does not come standard with this model.
